Seeking Sabr (Patience)

Anger doesn’t just happen.
Like a pot of water put to boil,
It starts with a hiss.
Like a sharp intake of breath.
Little bubbles of fury form
Deep down, inside the pot.
And erupt slowly to the surface.
Steam clouds reason.
Swirls squirm out of control.
As the eyes roll,
The rolling boil contorts the surface
And the whole pot shakes and quivers.
It is too late…
There are a few choices…
Put a lid on it, but the steam will still slither out.
Move from the flame but you are still inflamed.
Follow the Sunnah,
Slowly, splash the shaytaan away.
